Amenities
Handicap Accessible
The museum is fully handicap accessible in accordance with the Americans with
Disabilities Act of 1990. A handicap accessible entrance located on Main St.
provides access to our facility from street level. The elevator provides full
access to the three levels of exhibits and the handicap lobby. Our facility is
equipped with a foldable push wheelchair for visitors; please contact staff for
more information.
Research Library
Our research library provides patrons the opportunity to explore local and
state history. The materials are non-circulating, but guests may request copies
from staff for a small fee. The library includes a variety of books, newspaper
articles, and journals pertaining to the history of Illinois, Chicago and DuPage
County. Please see our Services page for a complete list
of policies and regulations.
To protect the integrity of our material, we ask patrons to not lean or lay paper
on top of books when taking notes. Please use books only on the table to provide
proper support. Staff will re-shelve books for you. If there is interest in
speaking with staff about special archives or collections, an appointment is
necessary.
Staff can assist with photocopy reproductions. While providing research materials
to patrons and visitors is one of our museum's main goals, photocopying can be
extremely damaging. The DuPage County Historical Museum reserves the right to
refuse requests based on the condition of the materials requested. Black and white
copies are $0.10 per standard sheet. Color copies are $1 per standard
sheet.
